Onigiri!!

Today I will make the Japanese rice ball called onigiri!

Amazingly, onigiri was developed in ancient times and has been eaten till now. You can find many types of onigiri everywhere at convenience stores and supermarkets, the equivalent food is sandwiches in UK? Onigiri was very usefull for Japanese people to travel long or work outside in old times. And of course now it's still convenient for lunch and picnic.

Onigiri has some little things in it. For example, ume (pickled sour plum), konbu (cooked seaweed) and katsuo (dried fish flakes) in the traditional way but also new styles like tuna and mayonnaise, teriyaki chicken and kara-age (fried chicken) are popular as well.

Ingredients:
cooked rice
katsuo (dried bonito flakes)*
soy sauce*
sesami*
boiled konbu (seaweed)*
salt
*whatever you like

1- Mix katsuo, soy sauce, sesami and boiled konbu.

2- Put the rice in a little bowl, make a dent in the center and put 1 in it. Then cover 1 with some rice.

3- Water your hands, spread some salt on them.

4- Get 1 into your hands and cup it like a ball (make it triangle if you can). Don't hold it too hard or too weak.

5- Wrap it with nori.

You might need some practice to make good onigiri's but once you get it, you can try many types of little onigiri's for a home party or picnic. Have fun!
